The burial record simply reads “William Hamond”. In 1684, Anne, wife of William Hamond was buried in the same parish.

William Hammond’s baptism record names his father. The will of John Hammond names his son, William.

Mother: Margerie Bruckhouse (died 1649).

Margerie’s name is given in her marriage record, and the will of her mother, Elizabeth Bruckhouse, mentions her son-in-law, John Hammond.


Spouse: Ann (buried 13 October 1684 in Stottesden).

Ann’s name is given in the baptism records of some of the children.

William's will:


In the name of God Amen Th’eleventh Day of September and in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand six hundred Eighty and Five, I William Hammonds of Blunden in the parish of Stotesdon and County of Salop yeoman, being sick and weake in body but of sound and perfect memory (praise be given to God for it) and knowing the uncertainty of this life on Earth and being desireous to settle things in order doe make this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following (That is to say) First and principally I commend my Soule to Almighty God my Creator assuredly believeing that I shall receive full pardon and remission of my sinns, and to be saved by the precious Death and Merritts of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus, And my body to the Earth from which it was taken to be buryed in such decent sort and manner as my Executor shall thnke convenient; And as for such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to lend me, my will is the same shall be imployed and bestowed as hereafter by this my Will is expressed, And first I revoke renounce and make voyd all former Wills by me made, And declare and appoynt this to be my last Will and Testament. Item I give and bequeath to my Sonn Thomas Hammonds the sum[m]e of Eight pounds to be payd within the space of Twelve moneths after my Decease, and my best Suite of Cloaths, to be delivered within one moneth after my decease. Item I give unto my Sonn Richard Hammonds the sum[m]e of Tenn pounds, to be payd within the space of Three yeares after my Decease. Item I give unto my Son Allen Hammonds the sum[m]e of Tenn pounds to be payd within the space of three yeares after my decease. Item I give unto my Sonn Henry Hammonds the sum[m]e of Twelve pounds, to be payd within the space of three yeares after my decease. Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth Lunne the sum[m]e of Three pounds to be payd within the space of three yeares after my decease. Item I give to my Grandchild Anne Lunne the sum[m]e of Twenty shillings to be payd within the space of three yeares to her Father Benjamin Lunne for her use after my Decease. Item I give to my Daughter Susan Tayler the sum[m]e of Five pounds, And to my kinsman Edward Tayler the sum[m]e of Twenty shillings to be payd within the space of three yeares after my Decease. And I doe nominate, constitute and appoynt my Sonne William Hammonds to be my sole and absolute Executor to Fullfill and performe this my Will and discharge my Debts, and to receive and take the Overplus of my Estate to his use with all my Goods and Cattle whatsoever it be.
