Philip was ordained d. and inst. at Wycombe on March 1, 1292, and had letters patent.

Commentary

Joan’s father is attested as the daughter and heir of Reginald de Jarkenvill in Robert Burnell’s ipm. Sir Reginald de Gerponville and his wife Alice are attested in 1250s. Clay states that the same Sir Reginald de Gerponville witnessed a charter in about 1220, which suggests that this Reginald may have been the grandfather rather than father of Joan.
