Iorwerth Fychan was of Pengwern. He succeeded his father as seneschal to the House of Northern Powys. (Mostyn 15)

Mostyn gives these dates. In 1254, Iorwerth Fychan, as Jervasio Senescałł meo, was a witness to a charter from Gruffydd ap Madog “Lord of Bromfield” to Valle Crucis. (Mostyn p.15)


Date of Death: probably before 21 December 1270.

His son Iorwerth Foel is a witness to a charter at Dinas Bran on this date. (Mostyn pp. 15-16).

The date is given by Mostyn (p. 15), presumably based on the date of the death of Catrin’s first husband.
