Agnes’s will:


In the name of god amen I Agnes Spicer of Napton upon the hill in the County of Warr widdow being sicke in body but of perfecte minde and memory thankes be given to almighty god doe constitute, make, and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge That is to say First I bequeath my soule into the handes of almighty god my creator and maker and to Jesus Christ my alone Savior and mercifull redeemer by whose mercies, death and passion I doe firmely beleeve to be saved and my body to be buried in the parish Church of Burton Dasset in thaforesaid County of Warr. Inprimis I give to the poore people of the parish of Napton the Summe of Twenty shillings to be distributed by the discretion of my executor hereafter named It. I give to the poore of the parish of Burton Dasset six shillings eight pence to be distributed at the discretion of my executor hereafter named. It[em] I give to Henry Spicer my second sonne one bedstead that I was wont to lye on at Napton one feather bed, one pillowe, one woolle bed, one paire of bolsters, one paire of Blankettss, one hilling, one paire of curtaines, one other woolle bed, one second brasse pot, one Brasse postnet, one second kettle, one store pigg foure strike of wheat. It[em] I give to my two daughters him also one Charger two of the bigger platters two of the lesser platters one butter dishe two barrels. Ite[m] I give to my two daughters Margaret Scarlet Mary Ledbroke and Mary Spicer my sonne Robert Spicers wife all my linnen and wearinge aparrel to be equally devided at the discretion of my ov[er]seers hereafter named. Ite[m] I give to my sonne in law John Ledbrook Foure pounds to be paid within two yeares and a halfe next after my decease. Ite[m] my will is that Fyv I give to my sonne Robert Spicer his two children Beniamin & Mary twenty shillings a peice to be paid within one yeare next after my decease. Ite[m] my will is that Five pounds shalbe bestowed in victualls and other necessaries for my funerall at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named. I doe nominate and apointe my dere and welbeloved sonne Robert Spicer to be my Executor and I do give to him the residue of my goods, Cattells, and Chattels, painge my debts, legacies, and funerall expences and I doe appointe my welbeloved brother Robert Edmunds and my welbeloved friend Beniamin Turner to be my overseers and I doe grive to either of them Five shillinges a piece for their paines therein to be taken In witnes whereof I have set to my hand and seale the tenth day of January the second yeare of our lord god one thousand sixe hudnred Twenty and sixe and the seconde yeare of the Raigne of our Sou[er]aigne lord Charles by the grace of God kinge of England Scotland Fraunce and Ireland, defender of the faith etc.
