Relationships

(possible) Father: Sir Robert de Holland.

This relationship is given by Ffarington (p. 152) and by Hulton (4:978). Baines (5:74) states that Margaret was a sister of the first Lord Holland, who was Sir Robert’s son. Some authors seem to avoid stating whether Elizabeth’s brother was the the first Lord Holland or his father. (Both were named Sir Robert.) The source seems to be a memorandum in the Whalley Coucher Book (p. 1085) which states that John de Blackburn “...desponsavit Margaretam sororem dñi Roberti de Holand...”, which seemingly could refer to either Robert. If it refers to the elder Robert, then Margaret’s father was Thurstan de Holland. This is what Holland has (chart opposite p. 1).

(possible) Mother: Elizabeth de Samlesbury.

This relationship is given by Ffarington (p. 152). See above for an alternative suggestion.

Spouse: Sir John de Blackburn of Wiswell.

This relationship is given by the Lancashire VCH (6:sub Chorley) and by Farrer (2:67-81 fn 10).

Spouse: Robert de Hepwall (died 1304).

This relationship is given by the Lancashire VCH (6:sub Chorley; 7:sub Mitton) and by Farrer (2:67-81 fn 10).

Spouse: Sir Adam Banastre.

This relationship is given by the History of Parliament, by the Lancashire VCH (6:sub Chorley; 7:sub Mitton), and by Baines (5:74).

Alice married Robert de Schireburne.

Agnes married (1) Sir Henry de Lea; married (2) Robert de Horncliff.

Joan married (1) Sir Thomas de Arderne; married (2) William Touchet.

Children (by Robert):

Children (by Adam):

Katherine Banastre married Sir John Harrington.
