Place of Birth: unknown.

The range of dates is given by Cawley. Manteyer (p. 83) gives about 1050 - 1060.


Date of Death: 21 December 1125.

Place of Death: unknown.

The date is given by Cawley. Manteyer (p. 92) states that he appears for the last time approving a gift to the Temple 30 January 1131/32 and died 21 December, probably in 1132 or 1133.

Mother: Pétronille.

This relationship is given by Manteyer (p. 83) and by Cawley.


Spouse: Mathilde “Regina”.

This relationship is given by Manteyer (p. 88) and by Giordanengo. Mathilda is recorded to have been of England. There have been different conjectures about her parentage. (Manteyer makes an elaborate argument on pp. 344 ff.) “Regina” has sometimes been interpreted as meaning she was a queen, but has also been taken as a name or byname.
