Commentary

A baptism for Ann Mary Swift has not turned up yet. The 1841 and 1851 censuses indirectly establish her parents. In 1851, Ann Mary’s son, Roger Eccleston, is living with Elizabeth Swift, widow, aged 72, and is listed as Elizabeth’s grandson. The 1841 census shows that Elizabeth’s husband was William Swift. Several siblings of Ann Mary appear in these censuses, but so far I have not managed to track down their baptisms.

That Elizabeth was Elizabeth Jump is an assumption based on the marriage of William Swift and Elizabeth Jump taking place in the right place, and at about the right time for a daughter to have been born in 1806-1808.
