Tewdwr ap Cadell ab Einion

Events

Date of Birth: about 1010.

This estimated date is given by Bartrum (EVWG [42], Tewdwr Mawr).

Date of Death: unknown.

According to Brut y Tywysogion (Williams pp. 50-51) and Annales Cambriæ (Williams p. 27), Tewdwr’s son Rhys began his reign in 1077. Lloyd/Thornton corrects this to 1079. Tewdwr presumably was dead by then.

Relationships

Father: Cadell ab Einion ab Owain.

This relationship is shown by Bartrum (EVWG [42], Tewdwr Mawr; EWGT) and given by Lloyd/Thornton. It is given by Giraldus Cambrensis (Description of Wales 1:167). Some sources omit Cadell from the name string, making Tewdwr the son of Einion, but this raises chronological problems.

Mother: Elinor ferch Gwerystan.

This relationship is shown by Bartrum (EVWG [42]).

Spouse: unknown.
