Duke of Aquitaine

Events

Date of Birth: unknown.

Place of Birth: unknown.

Date of Death: 3 April 963.

Place of Death: Saint-Cyprien de Poitiers.

The date and Poitiers are given by Richard (p. 94). Dillange (p. 90) gives the same date and states that he died at the monastery of Saint-Cyprien, as does Auriaz (p. 508).

Relationships

Father: Eble Manzer, count of Poitou, duke of Aquitaine.

This relationship is given by père Anselme (2:513), by Richard (p. 74), by Dillange (p. 85), by Barthélemy (p. 611), and by Cursente.

Mother: Emillane.

This relationship is given by Richard (p. 74). Père Anselme (2:513) makes the mother a daughter of Edward the Elder named Adele. Richard argues that this stems from a confusion with the wife of Guillaume III, and that Guillaume III’s mother was presumably Emillane. Dillange (p. 82) states that she was Emillane.

Spouse: Adèle de Normandie. Married about 935.

This relationship is given by père Anselme (2:514) and by Richard (p. 76).
