Commentary

Richard's age at the time of the baptisms of his (recorded) children, combined with gaps in the Painswick registers in the 1620s and 1630s, raise the possibility that his baptism has been misidentified. Evidence in favour of the baptism being correct: the Richard baptized in 1608 had a brother Daniel. This ties in with the name Daniel being given to Richard's son baptized in 1665.
