Commentary
William’s parentage:
The will of Benjamin Bach of New Town in the parish of Bromsgrove (made 1788, proved 1792) names his grandchildren William Bach, painter of Birmingham, and William’s sisters “Sarah wife of Thomas Penn, Phebe wife of James Jesson, Mary wife of Abraham Millington, and Lydia Bach Spinster”. The names Phebe, Mary, and Lydia match baptisms of children of the William of this page, in the same order as they are named in the will. That Benjamin’s grandchildren’s father is not mentioned implies he had died before 1788.
The 1758 will of Joseph Bach of Gannow in the parish of Bromsgrove names his son Benjamin, Benjamin’s wife Sarah, and their son William.
The Kidderminster parish register records the baptism 25 November 1718 of “William, son of Benj: Bach and Sarah his wife”.
Sarah’s maiden name is recorded in the 1716 Ribbesford marriage of Benjamin Bach and Sarah Foley. (Ribbesford is near Kidderminster.)
The evidence for William’s parentage is satisfactory.
