Commentary

Sarah’s parentage:

Sarah was married in 1716 in Ribbesford. The baptism of a Sarah Foley is recorded in the Ribbesford register in 1689/90 (parents Thomas and Sarah Foley). Entries concerning Thomas and Sarah and their children are the only Foley entries in the register in the period. (In addition to the baptism and marriage of the Sarah of this page, there are the baptisms of four of her siblings and the burials of her parents and one of her brothers.)

Thomas Foley married Sarah Littleford in Rock, Worcestershire, in 1687, shortly before Thomas and Sarah began having children baptized in Ribbesford. It is clear that this is the relevant marriage because Thomas and Sarah named one of their daughters “Littleford”.

The evidence that Sarah’s parents were Thomas Foley and Sarah Littleford is sufficient.
