Humphrey’s will:


In the name of god Amen I Humphrey Brinton of the parish of Trefeglwys in the county of Montgomery being sicke & weake in body but of good senses & perfect memory, all thanks & prayse be to allmighty god for the same the thirtyeth day of October in the fourteenth year of the Raigne of our soveraign Lord Charles the Second by the grace of god King of England, Scotland, France & Ireland defender of the fayth and in the year of our Lord god one thousand six hundred sixty & two doe make this my testament mentioning my last will therein Imprimis I commend my soule into the hands? of my Redeemer, I committ also I trust to be saved and my body to the earth from whence it came to be interred in Christian buriall as shall seeme best to my executors Item I give & bequeath two shillings towards the repayring of the parish church of Treveglwys, Item I give & bequeath unto my eldest son John Brinton twelve pounds Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Jane the wife of John Bub twelve pounds Item I give & bequeath unto Mary the wife of Giles Jarman twelve pounds Item I give & bequeath unto my son Euan Brinton twelve pounds & my will is that the [...]. Legacyes be payd within the space of a year after my decease Item I give & bequeath unto each of my grandchildren a year old sheep to be given them at may next after my decease Item I give & bequeath unto Joan the wife of Richard Wilson the summe of twenty shillings to be payd unto her within the space of a year after my decease, Item the forementioned Legacyes being first payd and my funerall expences discharged and my will proved I give & bequeath halfe my personal estate, viz. my goods, chattel & chattels moveable & immoveable unto my well beloved wife Katherine Brinton, excepting my Implements of husbandry which I do give and bequeath unto my youngest son Humphrey Brinton as alsoe I give and bequeath unto my said son Humphrey Brinton the other half of my personall estate viz. of my goodes, cattels and chattels moveable & immoveable Last of all I doe nominate constitute & appoint my said son Humphrey Brinton to be sole executor of this my will & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand & seale the day & year first above written.
