(Possible) Father: Eadwulf "Evilchild", the son of Oswulf (d. 966), the son of Ealdred of Bamburgh, the son of Eadulf. Or perhaps Oswulf (d. 966) was Waltheof's father.

Aird (ODNB) gives Eadwulf son of Oswulf. Farmerie follows Searle (p. 371) in suggesting Waltheof was the son of Oswulf, son of Ealdred, son of Eadwulf. McGuigan (pp. 91-93) discusses the evidence for the existence of Eadwulf "Evilchild".
