Evidence

from the Hertford VCH, sub Sandon

Regarding Olivers, known also as Hyde Hall, East End or Southall, there is this:

In 1490 this estate belonged to Matilda Exton in her own right, and she together with John Barbour, her son by a former marriage, conveyed it to Richard Fyfehid alias Lowe and other trustees, (fn. 118) who granted it in 1492 to Leonard Hyde of Throcking and others. (fn. 119) These appear to have been acting only as trustees. In 1506 they transferred the 'manor' to Sir Robert Drury, kt., and others, who in turn conveyed to Thomas Sandon. (fn. 120)

From the Feet of Fines (Herts Genealogist, p. 2):

1490. Trinity Term.

Rich. Fyfehid alias Rich. Lowe gent., Robt. Clyfford knt., Wm. Say More gent., Tho. Ingrame gent., Jas. Songergent., Hen. Cok, gent., and Rich. Bolday gent.: Matilda Exton late wife of Rich. Exton and John Barbour son of said Matilda. Manor of Olyuers and lands in Sandon.

The VCH of Hertfordshire (3: sub Sandon) describes the role of Richard Fyfehid alias Lowe as probably that of a trustee in the property transaction. Chauncey (p. 161) cites a 1492 deed in which Richard granted the land to Leonard Hyde.
