Sir John Culpepper of Bayhall

Sir John Culpepper purchased the manor of Wigsell from Simon de Etchingham in 1348. He succeeded to Bayhall on the death of his elder brother, Walter. (Attree, p. 54).

The date 30 August 1414 is given by Fleming, but this seems to be a confusion with another Sir John Culpepper.

This relationship is given by Attree (p. 54) and the 1592 Visitation of Kent (Bannerman p. 91).

Mother: Margery.

This relationship is given by Attree (p. 51) and the 1592 Visitation of Kent (Bannerman p. 91). Attree gives evidence to show that Margery was probably of the Bayhall family.


Spouse: Elizabeth Hardreshull.

This relationship is given by Fleming, by Attree (p. 54) and by the 1592 Visitation of Kent (Bannerman, p. 91).
