Commentary

Isabel’s name was written as “Elizabeth” on her marriage registration, but she signed “Isabel”. (Formerly, especially in the north of England, “Elizabeth” and “Isabel” were regarded as variants of a single name.) The Online Parish Clerks transcription, citing LDS film 1471099 (which is the Parish registers for Whalley) gives the surname as “Greenwood”, whereas the transcription on the FamilySearch index, which appears to be using Thomas Backhouse Ecroyd’s published transcription of the Whalley parish registers, gives the surname as “Spencer”. The parish registers clearly give "Spencer".
