Walter de la Poyle

A pedigree cited in The Gentleman’s Magazine (76:1:810) states that “Walterus de la Poyle fuit de familia Comitis Cornubiae.” A note states that “Walter de la Puyle occurs among the witnesses to Edmund Earl of Cornwal’s Charter at the foundation of Rewley Abbey, 1280.” In fact, Walter witnessed at least 18 of Edmund’s charters and accompanied him to Wales in 1277 and France in 1280.
