Walter held Isleworth and Hampton in Middlesex at the time of Domesday. He accompanied Robert II of Normandy on Crusade in 1096-7.

This relationship is tentatively given by Fowler (p. 2, p. 17). Cawley suggests that Walter’s wife may have been Elisabeth’s sister, Hodierne/Ermesinde.
