Relationships

Father: Otto of Maurienne, count of Maurienne and of Chablais.

This relationship is given by Guichenon (1:205), by Cognasso, by Dufour (p. 466), and by Demotz (p. 677).

Mother: Adelaide of Susa, marquise of Susa.

This relationship is given by Guichenon (1:205), by Cognasso, and by Dufour (p. 466).

Spouse: Joan.

Creber (p. 67) states that “[l]ate sources suggest that his wife was Joan, daughter of Gerold of Geneva and Rudolf’s unnamed sister.” Palluel-Guillard states that she was the daughter of Gerold, count of Genève. Previté-Orton (p. 242) states that the sources that give her father as Gerold II, count of the Genevois, are untrustworthy, but the relationship is nevertheless probable, since the count of the Genevois was guardian of Amadeus’s grandson, Amadeus III.
