In the name and fed...e of God Amen the nynth day of March Anno Dmi 1643 in the nyneteeth yeare of the raigne of our Soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of god king of England Scotland France and Ireland defender of the faith &c I Ellis Norris of Tregynon in the County of Montgomdery and Dioces of St Asaph gent. well knoweing the frailtie of mans life and how much it con...eth me to dispose of such estate as it hath pleased god of his infinite mercie to afford me I Doe make ordaine & declare this my last will and testament in writeing in manner and forme following First I com[m]end my Soule unto the hands of allmightie god my mercefull father hopeing assuredly through the only merrits of Jesus Christ my Saviour to be made partaker of life everlasting And I com[m]end my body to thearth whereof it is made. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Joane Ellis widdowe all that messuage and tenement with thappurtenances wherein the said Joane doth now dwell and inhabit scituat lyeing and being in Penryes in the parrish of Llanoethelan? in the said Countie. And all and singular houses barnes buildings curtilages gardens ourtiards lands arrable meadowes leasowes pastures feedings woods underwoods wasts wayes waters Comons liberties easemts emoluments and hereditaments whatsoever with th’appurtenances to the sayd messuage or tenement belonging or in any wise ap[per]taining or to or with the same usually used occupied or enioyed; or accepted reputed knowne or taken for as part parcell or member thereof scituate lyeing & being in Penryes aforesaid in the said Countie in as large & ample as the said Johan Ellis Doth now occupie the same; To have and to hould the said messuage lands tents hereditam’ts and all other the premisses under every part and parcell thereof with thappurtances unto the said Johan and her assignes for and dureing the terme of her naturall life if shee shall continue a Widdowe and unmarried, yeilding and paying therefore yearlie for the first eight yeares of the said terme (yf the said Johan shall soe long live) twelve pounds of good and lawfull money of England upon the feast dayes of St Michaell Tharchangell and thannunciacon of the blessed virgin Mary by even and equall porc[i]ons And the first of the sayd payments to begin and Com[m]ence at and upon the first of the sayd feast dayes as shall first happen to be at the end of six moneths next after my decease in such manner and forme followeing vizt twelve poundes for the first yeare of the sayd terme of eight yeares to Alice Ellis (being my grandchilde and daughter to the said Johan and twelve pounds for the second yeare of the sayd eight yeares to Margaret Ellis one other of the daughters of the sayd Johan and twelve pounds for the third yeare of the said eight yeares to Margerie Ellis one other of the daughters of the said Joane and twelve pounds for the fourth yeare of the said eight yeares To John Ellis eldest sonne of the sayd Johan And twelve pounds for the fyft yeare of the said eight yeares [in the margin: And twelve pounds for the sixt yeare of the said eight yeares to Ann Ellis one other of the daughters of the said Johan] To Richard Ellis one other of the sonnes of the sayd Johan and twelve pounds for the seaventh yeare of the said eight yeares To Humfry Ellis one other of the sonnes of the said Joane and twelve pounds for the last yeare of the sayd eight yeares. To George Ellis one other of the sonnes of the said Joane And yf it happen that any of the said Children shall dye before hee or shee doe dyeing shall receave his or her said twelve pounds due and payable and of the premisses as aforesaid Then my will and minde is that the said twelve pounds doe due to him or her soe dyeing shalbe payed & equally devided amongst the rest of the said Children And yeilding and paying therfore yearling dureing the naturall life of the said Joane after the execucion of the said eight yeares unto the said John Ellis his heires or assignes the sume of eight pounds of like money at the said feast dayes or within fyfteene dayes next after any of the said feast dayes; or within fyfteene dayes next after the said feast whereat the same ought to be payed by even & equall porcons Item I give and beqeath give and devise all the said messuage lands tents hereditamts and all other the premisses with th’appurtenances after the decease of the said Joan unto the said John Ellis his heyres and assignes for and dureing the terme of his n[atu]rall life And after his decease to thuse and behoofe of the heyres of the body of the said John Ellis lawfully yssueing: And in default of such heires or yssue then to the use and behest of the raiht heires of the said John Ellis forever: Provided all wayes and my full intent and minde is that if the said John Ellis my grandchilde will not p[er]mitt and suffer the said Joane Ellis the n[atu]rall mother to receave and take the sum[m]e of one hundred pounds of good and lawfull money of England being mortgage money in redempc[i]on of a messuage tent and lands’ scituate in Penryes aforesaid in the said County heretofore mortgaged by one John Lewis to one George Ellis deceased, late father of the sayd John Ellis and late husband of the said Johan And the same hundred pounds to be equally devided by the said Johan Ellis betweene her sayd Children; Then the said messuage lands tenem’ts and p[re]misses with th’appurtenances in Penryes wherein the said Joane Ellis doth now dwell ymediatly after the decease of the sayd Joane Ellis (yf she shall happen to dye before thexpirac[i]on of the said Terme of eight yeares to remaine to my grandchild Richard Ellis and his assignes for and dureing soe many of the said eight yeares as shalbe unexpired at the decease of the sayd Joane Ellis for and towards the paymente of the said severall twelve pounds by me hereby given and bequeathed to my said grandchildren as aforesaid Item I give and bequeath to the Sonne in law Richard Sire all that messuage & ten[emen]t with th’appurten[a]n[c]es Com[m]only called Dol y Saith Duy wherein Robert Brissoe Doth now dwell scituate lyeing and being in Aberhaldy in the said County And all and singular houses barnes buildings..gardens. orchards lands arrable meadowes leasows partures feedings woods underwoods wasts wayes waters Com[m]ons liberties easements emoluments and hereditaments whatsoever with th’appurtenances to the said messuage or tent belonging or in any wise appertayning or to or with the same usually used occupied or enioyed or accepted reputed knowne or taken for as part parcell or member thereof scituate lyeing and being the the severall Townships of Aberhaley and Llanre... aforesaid in the said Countie To have and to hould the said last menc[i]oned messuage lands tenem’ts hereditam’ts and premisses and every part and parcell thereof with th’appurten[a]n[c]es unto my said Sonne in lawe Richard Sire and his assignes ymediatly after my decease for & dureing the terme of six yeares thensforth next ensueing & fullr to be compleate and ended performing and paying therefore yearly dureing the said terme of six yeares the sum[m]e of five pounds of good and lawfull money of England att or upon the feast day of thannunciacion of the blessed virgin Mary and St Michaell tharchangell by even & equall porc[i]ons And the first of the sayd payments to begin the first of the said feast dayes as shall happen within the space of sixe moneths next after my decease vizt. tenn pounds of like money for the first five yeares of the said six yeares to my grandchild John Sire being one of the sonnes of the said Richard Sire and xli of like money for the second two yeares of the said six years unto my grandchilde Richard Sire the younger (being one other of the sonnes of the said Richard Sire my sonne in lawe and ten pounds of like money for the last two yeares of the said six yeares unto my grandchilde Norys Sire being one other of the sonnes of the sayd Richard Sire my sonne in lawe. And all and singular buildings gardens lands arrable meadowes leasowes pastures woods waste Com[m]ons liberties emoluments and hereditaments with th’appurtenances whatsoever app[er]tayning scituate lyeing and being in Aberhaler aforesaid in the said Countie in as large and ample manner as I hould the same by the graunt of John Blayney and Elizabeth his wife for the terme of twenty one yeares: To have & to hould the said lastly menc[i]oned p[re]misses with thappts unto my daughter Elizabeth Edwards and her assignes from and after my decease for and dureing the rest and residue of the sayd terme of twentie one yeares Item I give and bequeath devise and graunt unto my sayd two sonnes in lawe Richard Adams and Richard Sire all those tofts moors? plowe lands and tenemts with th’appurten[a]n[c]es which I have in mortgage from Thomas Powell scituate lyeing and being in the severall Townships of Aberhaley and Pullim To have and to hould the said tofts moors? places lands tenemts and hereditaments with their appurtenances unto the said Richard Adams and Richard Sire their heyres and assignes forever upon condic[i]on of redempc[i]on by paymt of one hundred and twenty pounds of lawfull money of England by the said Thomas Powell upon the feast day of thannunciac[i]on of the blessed Virgin Mary one thousand six hundred fortie fower in redempc[i]on of the sayd premisses And yf the said Thomas Powell doe redeeme and dismortgage the said premisses Then my full minde and will is that the said Richard Adams & Richard Sire shall have the said one hundred & twenty pounds mortgage money. Item I give & bequeath to the seaven eldest children of Evan Bowen gent my sonne in lawe, (being my grandchildren ten pounds a yeare of lawfull money of England to be payed unto them within the space of three yeares next after my decease my said seaven grandchildren giveing sufficient discharge or discharges for their said severall sum[m]s of ten pounds a yeare.
