Relationships

Father: Amadeus IV, count of Savoy.

This relationship is given by Walter, by Demotz, and by Cox.

Mother: Marguerite of Burgundy.

There is some disagreement in secondary sources about whether Beatrice’s mother was Marguerite of Burgundy or her niece, Anna, daughter of the dauphin André of Vienne (as given by Walter). The evidence seems strongly to favour Marguerite: the 1228 will of Marguerite’s mother (abstracted in the Regeste Dauphinois t. 2, nos. 6973 and 6975) makes it clear that Marguerite was married to Amadeus IV at that time, and the Regesto dei Marchese di Saluzzo (no. 249, p. 73, cited by Cawley) gives a 1223 contract regarding the marriage of Beatrice and Manfredo of Saluzzo. If Anna in fact married Amadeus (which is doubtful), it was presumably after Amadeus’s marriage to Marguerite.

Spouse: Manfredo III, marquis of Saluzzo.

This relationship is given by Walter, by Demotz, and by Cox.

Spouse: Manfredo, king of Sicily.

This relationship is given by Walter, by Demotz, and by Cox.

(Complete source citations for facts about the children on this page are currently outside of the scope of this project. Most information below comes from Cawley.)

Alasia (about 1236 - before 12 July 1311) married Edmund de Lacy, earl of Lincoln.

Tommaso I (died 3 December 1296), marquis of Saluzzo.

Agnese (1245 - after 4 August 1265) married John de Vescy.

Children (by her second husband):

Constanza (1249 - 1302) married Pedro III “el Grande”, king of Aragon, (later Pietro, king of Sicily).
