Commentary

There were two Elizabeth Bates baptized in Painswick: one in 1687 to Samuel and Ann, and the other in 1695 to John and Elizabeth. I give John and Elizabeth as the parents on this page since the date of baptism is more likely (Elizabeth's husband was born in 1696.) John and Samuel were brothers.
