Commentary
Alice’s parentage
Alice was married in 1777 in Nettleham, and she is described as being of Nettleham in the register entry. (See the page of Alice’s husband William Keyworth for the evidence showing that this is the correct marriage.) The register entry for Alice’s 1832 burial gives her age at death as 83.
The above information makes it straightforward to identify Alice’s baptism in 1750 in Nettleham. (It was very common for ages at death given in burial records in the period to be a year or two too old.)
The register entry for Alice’s baptism records her parents as Joseph and Elizabeth Merryweather. Joseph and Elizabeth began having children baptized at Nettleham in 1740. The register for nearby Reepham contains an entry for the 1739 marriage of Joseph Merryweather and Elizabeth Moss. Joseph’s residence is recorded as “Netlam”.
