Relationships

Father: Richard Willoughby.

Richard Willoughby’s will mentions his daughter Mary.

Mother: Mary.

Richard Willoughby was married at least three times. It is not clear which wife was Mary Willoughby’s mother, but all three of Richard’s known wives were named Mary.

(possible) Spouse: John Lamine. Married 28 May 1719 in West Rasen.

This marriage is given in the parish register. The Mary in this marriage was possibly someone else, a daughter of a Market Rasen couple, born in 1689.

(probable) Spouse: unknown Lilly.

The evidence for this relationship is indirect. The 1760 will of Stephen Willoughby makes his niece Ann Lilly his sole executrix. This will and that of his brother Charles Willoughby mention their sisters Ann and Elizabeth Willoughby. Stephen’s will also mentions his nephew John Bocock. Neither Stephen nor Charles mention any surviving children in their wills. The 1717 will of Richard Willoughby mentions his sons Charles and Stephen and his daughters Elizabeth, Mary, and Catherine Willoughby, as well as the possibility that his wife was pregnant. A John Bocock was baptized in West Rasen in 1718 to Edward and Catherine Bocock. The most reasonable inferences are these: Ann Willoughby was born after Richard made his will. Ann Willoughby and Elizabeth Willoughby never married. Catherine Willoughby married Edward Bocock in 1717 or 1718 (and died in 1733). Ann Lilly was the daughter (or possibly granddaughter) of Mary.

(probable) Children:

Ann Lilly (born about 1749) married Thomas Brewster 23 July 1766 in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.

Evidence

Possible marriage to John Lamine (West Rasen, 1719):

John Lamine of Market Rasen and Mary Willowby were married May the 28th
