Commentary
Elizabeth’s parentage:
The Elizabeth Bower of this page married Ambrose Beard in 1624 in Moreton Valence.
In his 1634 will, John Bower of Horsemarley in Moreton Valence named his daughter Elizabeth Beard and his “friend” Ambrose Beard.
In her 1637 will, Joane Bower of Horsemarley in Moreton Valence named her daughter Elizabeth Beard the wife of Ambrose Beard and her grandchildren Elizabeth Beard, Joan Beard, and Ambrose Beard.
In his 1621 will, John and Joan’s son Samuel Bower named his sister Elizabeth.
The evidence is clear that Elizabeth’s parents were John Bower and his wife Joan.
It is probable, but perhaps not certain, that the 1597 baptism in Hardwicke is that of the Elizabeth of this page.
