In the name of god amen the ixth day of December in the yeare of our lord 1601 I William Beard of the p[ar]ishe of Standishe in the countie of Glouc’ beinge sicke in body but of good p[er]fect memorie thanks be unto the almightie god therefore doe constitute & ordeine this my last will & Testament in man[n]er and forme as followeth. First I give & bequeth my soule into the handes of Almightie god my Creatour trustinge to obtaine mercie & tobe saued through the merites death and passion of our lord & sav’r Christ and my body unto Christian buriall
Imprimis I giue unto the poore of our p[ar]ishe of Standishe Walter Rickson Thomas Windowe Thomas Niblet Thomas Pridy John Meret and George Richson xij d to euery one of them and to Pulforde’s wiffe vjd and to widdowe Brooke vjd Item I giue to the poore of Runwicke — iiij s to be distributed by my overseers. Item I bequeth my father in lawe John Knight – xl s Item I bequeth unto my Mother — iij li to hir proper use and to be disposed at hir owne pleasure.
