The day after Ascension, 3 Henry [IV] [5 May 1402]. And afterwards one week from St Michael, 4 Henry [IV] [6 October 1402].

Henry Haulees [sic], querent, and Robert Fychet and Isabel, his wife, deforciants.

Property: 5 messuages, 40 acres of land, 4 acres of meadow, 60 acres of pasture, 4 acres of wood, 4 acres of marsh and 1 penny and 1 halfpenny of rent and a rent of 1 rose in Sandham and Knyghton' in the Isle of Wight.

Plea of covenant.

Robert and Isabel have acknowledged the tenements and rent to be the right of Henry, of which he has 3 messuages, the land, meadow, pasture, wood, marsh and rent of their gift.

For this: Henry has granted to Robert and Isabel the same tenements and rent and has rendered them to them in the court, to hold to Robert and Isabel, of the chief lords for the lives of Robert and Isabel. And he has granted for himself and his heirs that 1 messuage in the vill of Knyghton' - which Alexander Emory held for life - and also that 1 messuage in the same vill - which John Burton' held for life - of the inheritance of Henry on the day the agreement was made, and which after the decease of Alexander and John ought to revert to Henry and his heirs - after the decease of Alexander and John shall remain to Robert and Isabel, to hold together with the aforesaid tenements and rent of the chief lords for the lives of Robert and Isabel. And after the decease of Robert and Isabel, 1 messuage, 32 acres of land, 3 acres of meadow, 56 acres of pasture, 4 acres of wood, 3 acres of marsh and the rent in the vill of Sandham shall remain to John Fychet, son of the aforesaid Robert and Isabel, and the heirs of his body, to hold of the chief lords for ever. In default of such heirs, successive remainders, in respect of the same tenements and rent, (1) to Thomas Fychet, brother of the same John, and the heirs of his body and (2) to the right heirs of Isabel. And the rest of the aforesaid tenements, to wit, 4 messuages, 8 acres of land, 1 acre of meadow, 4 acres of pasture and 1 acre of marsh in the vill of Knyghton', shall remain to the aforesaid Thomas Fychet, son of the aforesaid Robert and Isabel, and the heirs of his body, to hold of the chief lords for ever. Stephen has acknowledged the tenements and rent to be the right of Henry, of which Henry has 10 messuages, the land, meadow, pasture and moor of his gift, and has remised and quitclaimed them from himself and his heirs to Henry and his heirs for ever. And he has granted to Henry the rent, together with the homage and all services of Thomas Wyuylle and his heirs, in respect of all the tenements which he held before of Stephen in the aforesaid vills, to hold to Henry and his heirs, of the chief lords for ever. And besides Stephen granted for himself and his heirs that 1 messuage - which John Whippe held for life of the inheritance of Stephen in the vill of Brerdyng on the day the agreement was made, and which after the decease of John ought to revert to Stephen and his heirs - after the decease of John shall remain to Henry and his heirs, to hold together with the aforesaid rent [sic] of the chief lords for ever.

For this: Henry has given them 100 pounds sterling.

Plea of covenant.

Nicholas and Joan and John have acknowledged the tenements to be the right of Henry, as those which Henry and Richard have of their gift.

For this: Henry and Richard have granted to Nicholas and Joan the tenements and have rendered them to them in the court, to hold to Nicholas and Joan and the male heirs of their bodies, of the chief lords for ever. In default of such heirs, successive remainders (1) to the heirs of the body of Joan and (2) to John and his heirs.

William, William and Robert have acknowledged the moiety to be the right of Henry, and have granted for themselves and the heirs of William Bourgchier that the moiety - which John Reynold' held for the life of John Taddehale of the inheritance of William Bourgchier on the day the agreement was made, and which after the decease of John Taddehale ought to revert to William, William and Robert and the heirs of William Bourgchier - after the decease of John Taddehale shall remain to Henry, John Garston' and Thomas and the heirs of Henry, to hold of the chief lords for ever.

Lawrence and Elizabeth and Thomas have granted to Henry and Margaret the tenements and moiety and have rendered them to them in the court, to hold to Henry and Margaret, of the chief lords for the lives of Henry and Margaret, and after the decease of Henry and Margaret the tenements and moiety shall remain to William Haweles and Elizabeth, his wife, and the heirs of the body of William, to hold of the chief lords for ever. In default of such heirs, remainder to the right heirs of Henry.

Warranty by Lawrence and Elizabeth, his wife, and the heirs of Elizabeth.

For this: Henry and Margaret have given them 100 marks of silver.
