This relationship is given by Thoroton (3:sub Hoveringham) and by Foulds (p. cxxxviii). It is recorded in pedigrees from plea rolls, given by Wrottesley (p. 175, p. 503, p. 534). In the Thurgarton Cartulary, Walter's widow is named Matilda (nos. 432-435).
