Relationships

Father: Ralph Holland.

This relationship is given by the 1580 visitation of Cheshire (Rylands p. 194). There is disagreement in secondary sources about Ralph’s parents. Lloyd (5:266) makes him a son of Robert de Holland and Maud la Zouche, which is not supported by other evidence. Ravenscroft (p. 5) makes him a son of Hoesgyn Holland, but Bartrum (Holland 1) doesn’t show him as a child in that family. Ralph is named as Isabel's father in a 1573 grant of arms given by Green. A Ralph de Holland is named in 1403 in the Recognizance Rolls of Chester (DKPR 1875, p. 241). Robert Thomas Jenkins (DWB sub Holland families) writes that the origins of Hoesgyn are unclear.

Mother: Rose, daughter of John Skevington.

This relationship is given by the 1580 visitation of Cheshire (Rylands p. 194), by Ravenscroft (p. 5), and by Lloyd (5:266). Ravenscroft gives John’s ancestry. I am not sure how solid the evidence is for it. A 1573 grant of arms, given by Green, gives John's parents as William Scavington and Mary, daughter of Hugh Brickhall.

This relationship is given by Ravenscroft (p. 4), by Ormerod (3:208), by Lloyd (5:266), and by the 1580 visitation of Cheshire (Rylands p. 194). It is also given in a 1573 grant of arms.

Henry Ravenscroft (died 1486), said to have married Joanna Radcliffe.
