Lipscomb (3:238 fn) notes that this relationship is given in a Harleian manuscript which “seems to bear marks of authenticity”.
Mother: Margery Thorne.
Margery Thorne is given as the wife of Thomas Knyffe in the 1564 Visitation of Northamptonshire (p. 6), although there Richard is omitted and Alice Knyffe is Thomas’s daughter. Alice Knyffe is described as the heiress of Thomas Thorne in the 1634 Visitation of Buckinghamshire.
(supposed) Spouse: Lettice Smart.
Lipscomb (3:238 fn) cites Harl. MSS.no 1391. as giving this, which is a manuscript associated with the 1634 Visitation.
