Commentary
Alice’s parentage
The 1634 Visitation of Sussex (p. 156) Called Alice “...d. of …. Steere of Ockley in com. Surrey.” The informant appears to have been Alice’s grandson Henry Bridger.
In his 1545/6 will, Edmund Steere of Capel, who was originally from Ockley, named his daughter Alice.
It seems likely, although not certain, that Edmund was the father of the Alice Steere of this page.
