Sir Kynard de la Bere

Sheriff of Herefordshire: 1387-8, 1396-7, 1401-2.

Events

Date of Birth: unknown.

Place of Birth: unknown.

Date of Death: 22 June 1402.

Place of Death: the battle of Pilleth.

The date and place are given by Kightly.

Relationships

Father: John de la Bere.

This relationship is given in a pedigree from the plea rolls. Kightly gives John’s father Richard as Kynard’s father.

Mother: Agnes.

The name of John’s wife is recorded in a fine.

Spouse: Katherine, widow of Sir John Pecche. Married about 1387.

This relationship is given by Kightly and by the Warwickshire VCH (3: sub Honiley). Kynard’s will names his wife Katherine and his “filez” John Pecche and Margaret Pecche. Sir John Pecche had been a minor at the time of his father’s death, and his marriage had been granted to Sir Richard Sturry. Katherine was probably somehow related or connected to Sir Richard (McFarlane, p. 159). Sir John Pecche died in 1386.
