Cawley estimates his birth date “very approximately” to 1060 or 1070, based on the first mention of his son, William, in a charter dated to about 1096.


Date of Death: between 1134 and 1155.

These dates are given by Turner (ODNB). Cawley gives between 1131 and 1139.

Spouse: Aenor, daughter of Juhel of Totnes.

This relationship is given by Turner (ODNB) and by the Complete Peerage (1:21). Cawley notes that it is recorded in a Norman charter (Chartes Normandes p. 43).
