John Clarke senior

Events

Date of Birth: unknown.

Place of Birth: unknown.

(Possible) Date of Burial: 26 February 1654/5.

Place of Burial: Pickering, Yorkshire.

It is not certain that this burial is not of the John Clarke who married Ellis Harrison in 1636 (assuming that was a different person from the John Clarke of this page.)

Relationships

Father: unknown.

Mother: unknown.

A John Clarke was baptized in Pickering in 1607, but he seems to have belonged to a different family, probably marrying Ellis Harrison in 1636 in Pickering. I can’t find any record of Ann Clarke (Scales) being buried around 1635, so I think it is unlikely that the 1636 marriage was a second marriage for the John born in 1607. (Also, the Ann Scales of the “first” (1624) marriage was possibly born in 1597, which would make her considerably older than that John -- not impossible, of course, but somewhat unlikely.)

Spouse: Ann Scales. Married 6 February 1624/5 in Pickering, Yorkshire.

The marriage is recorded in the parish register.

Children:

(Complete source citations for facts about the children on this page are currently outside of the scope of this project.)

Robert Clarke (baptized 9 July 1626 in Pickering) married Ellis Boutley 8 December 1659 in Pickering, Yorkshire.

John Clarke (baptized 17 February 1630/1 in Pickering - buried 29 August 1706 in Pickering) married Jane Lyon 14 December 1657 in Thornton Dale, Yorkshire.

Ellen Clarke (baptized 19 November 1634 in Pickering).
