Place of Birth: unknown.

Place of Baptism: Ford, Sussex.

The date is given by the Sussex VCH (4:sub Midhurst), by the Complete Peerage (2:200), and by Watson. James was born prematurely after his mother fell downstairs. He was hastily baptized, but survived. Hope gives 3 February, 1277/80 or 1280/81.


Date of Death: shortly before 30 May 1306.

Place of Death: unknown.

James de Bohun

Writ to the escheator in Ireland, 30 May, 34 Edw. I.

Kildare. Inq. made at Dublin on Tuesday after St. Luke, 34 Edw. I (defaced).

Ballymaddon. The manor, and a castle and certain lands &c., at Comerith in the march amongst the Irish in co. Kilkenny, held of the king in chief by 7l. 10s. of royal service, when royal service is exacted.

He held nothing of others.

Heir unknown because he was born and dwells (in England?).
