John’s will:


In the name of God Amen the three & twentieth day of March & in the yeare of our lord god one thousand six hundred and nyne I Joh Cowlston of Harsfield in the County of Gloucz husbandman being sick of body but of perfect memory doe make my last will in manner & forme followinge. First I bequeath my soule to allmighty god my maker & Redemer & my body to be buried in the churchyard of Harsfield aforesd./ Inprimis I geeve to Ann my wife yf she overlive me one bed with the appurtenance one brasse potte one pann with other things necessary for howshold to be delivered by my overseers. Item I geeve & bequeath unto Bartholmew my sonne twenty shillings to be payd to him at the discretion of my overseers: Item my will is that little Shu[?] shall remayne & bee with Alice my daughter untill harvest or there abouts & then at the descretion of my overseers after. Item all the Rest of my goods moveable & unmoveable I give unto alice my daughter whom I make my whole executor to see my will performed my body brought to the ground & my debts payd & all things donne according to the true intent therof. & I appoynte and make my overseers Giles Byshop Wm Newton and Thomas Rowles
