Sir Thomas Culpepper (died 1321)

Sir Thomas Culpepper, in return for his service against the Scots, received a pardon for breaking the park of the Prior of Christ Church, Canterbury, at Westwell, and the park of the Prior of Michelham, in 29 Edward I (1300-1301). He was Governor of Winchelsea, and was executed there in 1321 for taking the side of the Earl of Lancaster against Edward II (Attree p. 52).

Tenements called ‘le Bayhalle,’ Dodyngebery, Chaledecote and Whetstede (extents given), including two messuages, 405a. arable, two water-mills, &c. held in gavelkind, as pertaining to the tenement called ‘le Bayhalle,’ of Clarice, daughter and one of the heirs of Rodland de Okstede, Elizabeth de Burgh, John de Mereworth, Walter de Chitecroft, and divers other lords, by service of 2s. 10d. yearly.


Walter his son, aged 22 years on the feast of the Purification last, is his next heir.
