Events
As a teenager, John moved with his family to Muskoka. He had a farm and general store in Uffington.
Date of Birth: 10 July 1865.
Place of Birth: Branchton, Waterloo County, Canada West, United Province of Canada.
The 1901 census gives his date of birth as July 10, 1865, as does his gravestone. His death registration gives the place of birth as “Branchton” and his age as “50 yrs 11 months” which calculates to July, 1865. (The informant for the death registration was Thomas Kirkpatrick.)
Date of Death: 12 June 1916.
Place of Death: Uffington, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
His death registration gives the date of death (“June 12th 1916”) and the place (“Uffington”). The cause of death was heart failure. The informant for the return was Thomas Kirkpatrick, the physician was J. H. Speers, and the return was made on the day of death. His gravestone also gives the date of death as June 12 1916.
Place of Burial: Uffington, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada.
The death and burial information come from a newspaper clipping. An exact reference is still needed. His gravestone is in the cemetery. A digital image of his gravestone from the Canadian Gravemarker Gallery.

Commentary
John’s parentage:
John’s death certificate records his parents as Adam Crozier and Margaret Duncan. The informant was Thomas Kirkpatrick, who was the father of the husband of John’s daughter Cresson.
The 1871 and 1881 censuses do not explicitly give family relationships, but in 1871 John is 6 years old and living in the family of Adam Crozier and Margaret in South Waterloo County, Ontario, and in 1881 he is living with the same family, now in Muskoka.
Adam Crozier and Margaret Duncan were married in Waterloo County in 1860, and began having children there shortly afterwards. They began having children there shortly afterward, according to censuses, including John.
There is supporting DNA evidence that John was the son of Adam Crozier and Margaret Duncan. I am a paper-trail descendant of John, and I share DNA with two paper-trail descendants of John’s sister (and Adam and Margaret’s daughter) Jessie, and with four paper-trail descendants of John’s brother William. However, the descendants of William are also related to me through William’s wife Mary Ellen Brewster.
The evidence for John’s parentage is sufficient.
