Commentary
Sarah’s parentage:
In his 1698 will, Sarah’s husband Robert Ridler named his “brothers” Anselm Bayly and William Bayly.
In his 1689 will, Anselm Bayly of Whitminster named his daughter Sarah and his sons Anselm, William, and John Bayly.
The Whitminster parish register records the baptism in 1670 of Sarah, the daughter of Anselm Bayly, and the baptisms of William and John in 1676 and 1679.
Anselm’s wife was recorded as Sarah in the baptism entries of William and John, in the probate record for Anselm’s will, and on a gravestone in the Whitminster churchyard.
