Erik was probably closely related to the preceding rulers of Sweden, but a record of the exact relationship has not survived.

Mother: unknown.


(supposed) Spouse: Sigrid Storråda.

This relationship is given by Cawley. She is said to have been the daughter of “Skoglar” Toste. Fritz notes that it is unclear whether she was a historical figure, given the lateness of the sources recording her existence.


(supposed) Spouse: a sister of Bolesław I of Poland.

Bolin notes that Adam of Bremen gives this relationship, and that it is indirectly supported by some mutually independent sources. Some argue that these two spouses are the same person.


Children:


Olof “skötkonung”, king of Sweden, married Estrid of the Obotrites.
