1335, Dec. 24. Thomas de [Praers], of Bertumlegh, John Griffyn, William de Praers, Robert de Becheton, and Hugh del Hogh, to the Earl of Chester, recognizance for 10l. for the relief of the said Thomas. [9 & 10 Edw. 3. m. 2 (6).]
1337. Thomas de [Praers], of Bartomlegh, licence of Edward Prince of Wales to, to alienate to Thomas de Whitynton, chaplain, the manors of Bertumlegh, Crue, near Haselynton, and Landecan, 18s. rent in Netherbebynton, the serjeanty of the fee of the Countess of Warwick and the advowsons of the churches of Bertumlegh and Wodechirche, with power to the said Thomas de Whitynton to re-enfeoff, in fee-tail, the said Thomas de Praers and Margery his wife, of the same, with the following remainders, viz., to John Griffyn and his heirs, the manors of Bertumlegh and Crue, the rent and serjeanty, and the advowson of the church of the manor of Bertumlegh, excepting 60 acres of land and 66s. 8d. rent in the said manor of Crue, which were to remain to William son of Randal de Crue and Alice his wife, and her heirs for ever; and the manor of Landecan and the advowson of Woodchurch to William de Praers, of Badylegh, and his heirs for ever. [10 & 11 Edw. 3. m. 1 d. (7.)] This enrolment is undated, but is illustrated by the following recognizances entered into for the payment of the fine on the above license.
1337, May 5. [Thomas de Praers], William de Praers, senior, John Griffyn, William Hamelyn, Ken’ Seys, John de Hulfeld, Richard de Rooper, and John son of Randal de Weston, to Henry Prince of Wales, recognizance for a fine of 40 marks, made on the foregoing alienation. [Ibid. (5), (6).]
1338, Nov. 12. Thomas de [Praers], of Bertumlegh, license to, to grant to John Gryffyn, senior, the manors of Berumlegh, Crue, near Haselynton, and Landecan, 18s. rent in Netherbebynton, the serjeanty of the fee of the Countess of Warwick, and the advowsons of the churches of the aforesaid manors of Bertumlegh and Wodechirche, held of the Earl of Chester in capite, to hold to the said John Gryffin during the life of the said Thomas, by the service of one rose yearly, with remainder on the death of the said Thomas, to his right heirs quit of the aforesaid John and his heirs for ever.
