This relationship is given by Manteyer (p. 94) and by Giordanengo. Mathilda is recorded to have been of England. There have been different conjectures about her parentage. (Manteyer makes an elaborate argument on pp. 344 ff.) “Regina” has sometimes been interpreted as meaning she was a queen, but has also been taken as a name or byname.
