Commentary

Parentage

The 1717 baptism in Bromsgrove of Samuel Ward to William and Mary Ward must be that of the Samuel of this page. It is the only baptism of a Samuel Ward in Bromsgrove in the relevant time period, and William’s 1763 burial record describes him as “William Ward lintous Nailor”. Samuel’s 1769 burial record describes him as “Samuel Ward of the Linthurst Nailer”.

Mary’s surname is recorded in her marriage record.

The evidence is clearly sufficient to establish the relationships.
