A transcription of Robert Jackson’s will


In the Name of God Amen This Thirtieth day of January Anno Domini One Thousand seven Hundred & twenty nine I Robert Jackson of No: Meols in Co:y Lan'r Husbandman being Infirm & weake of body but of sound & perfect mind & memory praised be God for it do make & ordain this my last will & Testament in manner & form following That is to say firt I commend my soul into the hands of Allmighty God: and my body to the earth to be Cristianly & decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and as touching such Temporal substance that it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, I Give devise & dispose of it as followeth (Viz) First I will that my due debts funerall expences and probat of this my last will be pay'd & discharged out of my personall estate: And whereas I have in my possession one messuage & Tenament with th'Appurt'es situtate lying & being in Crossins within No: Meols afors'd: which I hould by Indenture of Assignment Legally executed by John Dandy Elizabeth his wife and Robert Robison her son, one moiety or half of the sd messuage Tenament with th'Appurt'es I give to James Jackson my son, the other half I give to Ann my loveing Wife during her naturall life (If the lives in the original Lease so long do live) but if shee marry after my deceas then I will that my son James have the whole estate, messuage Tenament with the'App'r aforsaid, paying her the yearly summ of Twenty shillings the first payment to become due at the end of eleven month immediatly after her marriage: And Further I will that Ann my loving wife And James Jackson my son in consideration of the enjoyment of the messuage and Tenament as afforsaid be eaqually chargible with & do eaqually pay to John Jackson my younger son the sum of Two pounds of current money so soon as he attaineth to the age of twenty one years, and allso to Alice & Eling my daughters each the summ of Twenty pounds of like current money when they come to twenty one years of age, but if either of them die underage the 20 s eaqually to my wife & children And wheras I have in my possession one cottage and one acre of ground in the banks within No: Meols afsorsaid, which is in Lease and Three other acres which I hould upon a rack rent I give the said cottage Acre in Lease and all the Tenantright to the other three acres (If any Tenantright there be) to John Jackson my younger son during the term granted in the said Leas, And Lastly I do herby nominate & Appoint Ann my loving Wife & James Jackson my son Executrix & Executor of this my last will & Testament hoping they will see the same executed as my trust & repose is in them; And I do herby make void all former and other wills and Bequests heretofore by me made ratifying this and no other to be my last will & Testament In Wittness whereof I have hereunto putt my hand & seal the day & year first above written
