Commentary
Alexander’s parentage:
Alexander was married in 1714 in Logie and had children baptized between 1714 and 1735 in Alloa. There are two plausible baptisms, both in Alloa: in 1683 (parents Arthur Henderson and Elizabeth Raltonne) and in 1691 (parents James Henderson and Margaret Johnston). An Alexander Henderson was married in Alloa in 1704. It seems reasonable for chronological reasons to assume that the Alexander baptized in 1683 is the one who married in 1704, and that the Alexander baptized in 1691 is the Alexander of this page. This assumption is also supported by the names given to the first two children of the Alexander of this page, Margaret and James, which are also the names of the parents of the Alexander baptized in 1691. None of the children of the Alexander of this page was named Arthur, the name of the father of the Alexander baptized in 1683.
