Helen’s parentage:
The marriage entry in the St Ninians register states that Elizabeth was lawful daughter to “the deceased George Marshall Indweller in this parish”. There is a baptism entry in the St Ninans register in 1720 for Elizabeth Mershel, daughter of George Mershel and Helen Bowie. There is no other plausible baptism in indexes.
