This is the last will of me the said John Epse made the day & yere a bovesaid / First I wull that John Epse my Sone shall have to hym his heires & assignes for eu[er] all those my lands & teneme’ts sett lieng & beyng yn the p[ar]isshes of old Romeney Saynt Marten & Saynt laurence of New Romeney hope allhalowen Brokelond And Brensett payeng to Johane my wiff yerely duryng her liff ij li vj s viij d of good & usuall money of Englond at the feasts of thannunciation of our lady And Saynt Michell tharchangell by equall portions to be payed / And if it happe the said Annuyte of iij li vj s viij d to be behynd ynpayed by viij dayes aft’ any of the said feasts above lymyted Then I wull the same Johane or her Assignes in any parte or parcell of all suche lands as I have yn the p[ar]ishes of old Romeney Saynt Martens & Saynt laurence of New Romeney shall distrayne and athe same distresses so withold unto tyme the same Johane or her assignes the said annuyte forthwithall other expence in that behalf sustayned be fully content satisfied & paid Itm I wull that eu[er]y of my iij yongest doughters Johane Amye & Johane shalhave when they come to the Age of xx yeres vj li xiij s iiij d except then shalhappe to be maried be fore the same Age Then to be paid at their mariage/ And if it happen any of theym to dye before they come to the same age of xx yeres & not maried Then I wull eu[er]y of theym to be others heire And if it shall happen all my said iij doughters to dye before the same age of xx yeres And not maried Then I wull ther shalbe bestowed of the same money to pover peple yerely dwellyng within the p[ar]ishe of old Romeney And iij s iiij d to be gevyn whereas myn Executor or his assignes shall thynk most nede / And I wull that vj li therof shalbe bestowed yn fowle wayes whereas my said Executor or his assignes shall seme most nede/ And I wull that the vij li residue my wiff shalhave if she then be liveng or els to be bestowed yn dirigs masses & other cheritable deds at the discretion of my said Executor or his assignes/ Itm I wull that Agnes Hugelyn shalhave to her mariage when she comyth to the age of xx yeres vj s viij d and if she happeto dye before the same age Then I wull it shall remayne to the children of Alice Roger my doughter/ Itm I wull that I may have done & bestowed for me at my Burieng xxx iij s iiij d and so yn likewise at my monthismynde xxxiij s iiij d / And also at my yeres mynd xxxiij s iiij d Itm I wull that an honest preest shall syng & say for me yn the p[ar]ishe Churche of Saynt Clement foresaid by the space of a yere halfe yerely/ that is to saye From the feste of the Annunciation of our lady next after my decesse unto the feaste of Saynt Michell Tharchangell/ And so to begyn a gayne at the feaste of the Annunciation of our lady then next foloweng unto myhelmasse then next ensueng/ Itm I wull that Johane my wiff shalhave my place that I now dwellin withall suche necessary lands appartenayng therto with thapp[ur]tenances That is to say A parcell of land and xvj acres callid longbeche and the barne with iiij acres of land lieng therto vj acres of land callid Bretts xiij acres of land callid Dodds vij acres of land callid quart lands and ij acres et d’ of land whiche I late purchased of John Arnell to be had to her then and next Immedyatly after my decesse unto the Feaste of Saynt Mychell Tharchangell then next foloweng/ And so from the feast of Saynt Michell by the space of a yere then next ensueng/ And if she do kepe her self sole & unmaried a nother yere foloweng Then I wull she shalhave the said teneme’t & lands and she to do no stepe no wast payeng to my sone John yerely by the same terme xx s for the discharge of Rents & stotts and rep[ar]ation of the howsyng and barn Itm I wull that all suche corne as is sowen and shalbe sowen of & uppon the above namyd lands for this yere at harvest shalbe indifferently & equally devided betwene Johane my wiff & John my Sonne Eche of theym to bere charge of harvest like/ Itm I wull that John my Sonne shalhave the occupieng of the said Chamber as he hathe had before tyme Itm I wull that John Roger and Alice his wiffe shalhave to theym and their assigneis for terme of their lyves a Teneme’t & a Garden/ whiche they now dwellin payeng yerely to John my Sonne or to his assignes for the Rep[ar]ations of the same ij s Itm I wull that if it happen that when any of my said children Johane Amye and Johane to be maried and the money whiche I have assigned theym to ther mariage be not paid accordyngly to the same or within a
