Creber (p. 45) states that Teto was “in all probability, the son of Anselm II and Adelaide of Milan.” Cognasso (Tavola III) follows Usseglio in giving Oberto II. Bresslau expresses doubt. In any case, most sources have him as a descendant of Aleramo, count and margrave of Savona.
