This relationship is given by Radić, by the ODB (Genealogy of the Komnenos Family), by Varzos (p. 49), and by the PBW, citing Anna Komnene 324.65 and Bryennios 75.7-8. Radić and Cheynet note that Erotikos was very probably Manuel’s maternal family name.
